Welcome! The intended audience of this online resource includes private investigators, search professionals, and other interested parties who are involved in running criminal background checks and locating missing people in the United States. Please take a minute to read the first three paragraphs of this document and find out what this unique Web site is about. This should help you decide if this is right for you. 800PeopleSeach.com represents the beginning of a select community of people who have similar business needs. For example, our typical member would work for a small business or runs his/her own private practice. The people who will benefit most from this environment will be those who want to save time or who may not have the resources to assess or evaluate different information providers on their own. These providers frequently come and go, can be affected by new laws, and other factors. Consequently, the quality of the information they provide can change. Individually it is difficult and time consuming to stay on top of these changes. Together we can benefit from each other's experiences. Please take a moment now to consider if this type of environment could be helpful to you. Are you open to networking with others? Since you are still with me, then your answer was yes. Great! Please take a few minutes to let me describe what you need to do here and what you can obtain in return. We are not selling or promoting any one product or service, by the way, just memberships. A membership entitles you to see and follow the links to the resources mentioned as well as read comments that others may have left on those resources. We are not selling a database or giving you access to records. This how-to guide will help you find the right free or fee based sources that you can purchase and use. The first thing you need to understand is how this collection of information is organized (it's framework) and why. Remember, everything presented here is related to obtaining fast, inexpensive, yet reliable information. |

The Missing Persons 'How-To' Manual shows the steps a professional people locator would go through to find someone. Spend a few minutes to review this overview. Many of the resources referenced require the creation of a business account, especially where sensitive personal data is being referenced. Depending on the nature of your business, those vendors may choose to deny you access to their data. We also have included references to sources that are free, or low cost, and some that do not require a business accout to access. For example, many property records can be viewed for little or no cost and are available from a number of different providers. Court records unless sealed are also available to you. |

Simply put, there are providers of information and consumers of that information. A provider can be a single person, or it can be an entire organization. We have catalogued about 200 providers of information who could benefit you and have presented them in about 35 categories. We have one main page that presents this information and have called it our Resource List. Take a moment and look at that page, but then come back as that is only the beginning. Every member of this network can also be a provider of information and can promote oneself that way. Take a moment and look at my profile 5001. Each member can share his opinion regarding each provider. For example, I have had experience using Equifax credit headers and wrote a brief comment about Equifax that you read when you look at the Equifax profile. Reading my comment, you will see a link back to my profile and a link to the Equifax resource again. You also have the ability to respond to my comments or add your own opinion. Of course, you will need a member account to do this. The benefit of sharing your own comments and opinions is that it demonstrates your expertise to your peers and potential customers. To look at an index of all the notes posted so far, see the Subject Index |

Once you have created a membership account, should you choose, you can browse a list of people who have posted missing persons posts to see if they would want you to help them. Through an arrangement with PeopleSearch.com, we have obtained exclusive access to a search routine that can search this list geographically. There are over 170,000 entries here. PeopleSearch.com currently obtains thousands of visitors every day. We have the assurance of their management that they will strive to send us many more interested customers seeking professional services. |

Another way to present yourself is with your member profile. As the saying goes, "A first impression is a lasting impression." You can modify your own profile to present your individual resume or that of your company. Look at my profile for example. You can also choose various degrees of privacy to protect yourself from view or comments, should you choose. |

You can create, edit, and delete case files in your own password protected area. See the TestDrive area for an example of how this works. In addition, the Report Generator is dynamically linked to this area. You can use the Report Generator to create a report, then save it to a filename of your choosing. CHAT: By downloading AOL's Instant Messenger free service, called AIM, you can communicate directly through your computer with your colleagues and with potential customers. You don't need an AOL account to use this technology. You can then put the AIM screen name you chose for yourself in your profile and begin talking with others. See our CHAT page for instructions. Other Web pages you may also choose to review include the Missing Persons 'How-To' Manual, the Search Members List page, and the Subject Index of all notes and comments. If you are new to this site, the next page we suggest you read is the Benefits of Membership Page . |
